Golden hour, sake in hand, skyline in view. This is The 2026 World Sake Day Festival! On Sunday September 27 starting at 4:00pm, The W LOFT transforms into New York's best fall rooftop soirée, where autumn air meets Japan's most celebrated pour. This is sake season done right!
Grab your $39 GA Ticket (a $78 value) for admission to this sip-tacular soirée, complete with 15 Tastings from a selection of 35+ Japanese and US Breweries, as well as a Souvenir Sake Glass to take home and relive the memories!
Now in its 6th year, the festival brings together over 35 renowned breweries from Japan and the US for an afternoon of world-class tastings. Think Kato Sake Works, GoSakeman, Dassai Blue, Kubota, Brooklyn Kura, Hatsumago/UKA, MTC, and more, all pouring their finest as the sun dips behind the skyline.
Round it out with Japanese bites (available for purchase), inventive cocktails from award-winning mixologists, and a curated Asian artisan market stocked with ceramics, fashion, candles, and crafts. It's a full sensory afternoon set against one of the city's most stunning backdrops.
New this year is a collaboration with Ambassador Wine that turns tasting into taking home something spectacular. Fall for a bottle on-site, and walk away with it. No more scrambling to remember which sake stole your heart!
Gorgeous views, good company, glass after glass of something worth savoring. We're all in...
Behind every pour at World Sake Day is a love letter to Japan's oldest beverage tradition, and the woman who brought it to Brooklyn. Founded by Mika Furuya in 2021, the festival began humbly at her own venue, MIKA Bar in Bushwick, in collaboration with Shinobu Kato of Kato Sake Works. That first year drew over 300 guests for a tasting of 12 sakes from four producers: Kato Sake Works, GoSakeman, Kubota, and Skurnik Wines. Small pours, big ambition, and it's grown every year since.
Held each year to mark the start of Japan's sake brewing season, World Sake Day NYC has become one of the city's essential celebrations of Japanese craft and culture. Now in its sixth year, the festival gathers an expanding roster of breweries from Japan and the US, each bringing their own expression of a centuries-old craft. From time-honored techniques to boundary-pushing new styles, it's all divine. New names join the lineup every year, keeping the celebration as much about discovery as tradition.
But the heart of it all is connection. World Sake Day exists to put guests face-to-face with the people behind the bottle, aka the brewers, the stories, the heritage, turning a tasting into something closer to a conversation. This year, that connection unfolds at the W LOFT, where skyline views set the stage for an evening built around blissful sips.
Expect a few surprises woven through the night, alongside the sips and Japanese bites. Come thirsty. Leave like you just touched down from Tokyo...
