Engineering
Front End Developer (New York, NY)
About the Position
We’re looking for a great developer to join the team. You will be responsible for handling development on the back end and on the front end. You will work directly with our CTO to plan and build new features for both the website and the app.

As a small team, each member has many responsibilities, and you will be implementing entire features on your own, writing both the Ruby and Javascript code to get it working. You will also be expected to quickly learn and adapt to a variety of technologies--such as additional gems or front end frameworks that we work with--since we are constantly having to work with and add API's as we expand and improve our site and mobile app.

Responsibilities
  • Develop clear, clean, and maintainable object oriented code using Rails.
  • Use front-end object oriented code in Javascript that will work smoothly with the back end, usually via JSON.
Qualifications
  • 4 year college degree in engineering, ideally in computer science
  • 1+ years Ruby or similar OOP experience, such as Python
  • 1+ years experience working with Rails or at least another similar MVC framework
  • 1+ years Javascript (all current development uses Coffeescript)
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and working with web applications
  • Knowledge of AWS and running services in the cloud
  • jQuery
  • MySQL
  • Caching in web applications (how to use Memcache and caching strategies to improve page load speed)
  • Experience with nginx and passenger
  • Objective C and the iOS framework

Business Development
Account Executive (New York, NY)
About The Position
The Account Executive role is responsible for accelerating pulsd’s sales momentum and growing a sales team from the ground up. You will be reporting directly to the CEO and working alongside the company’s head of business development.

Account Executives are expected to convert qualified leads generated, as well as generate leads by themselves. An ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, high-energy and be a lateral thinker.

Finally, you love New York City! This position has many perks, including the opportunity to do whatever you want on the website for free! That’s right, free dinners, free massages, free wine tasting, free events etc. Make it happen!

Qualifications
  • Recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree from a leading university or liberal arts college.
  • Outgoing, self-starter who can shoulder responsibility in a highly demanding environment.
  • Have a solid understanding of NYC’s entertainment, events and nightlife businesses.
  • Hungry to cultivate and develop new relationships with businesses that will benefit our members.
  • Have excellent communication skills, and be detail-oriented, with an unquenchable thirst to grow the pulsd brand.
  • Is OK with being rejected because he/she knows he/she will eventually succeed.

Desired
  • 1-2 years of experience in a sales environment.
  • Team player who will ultimately contribute to the bottom line and do whatever it takes to win individually and as a team.
  • Consistently hit monthly quota and manage weekly/monthly/quarterly forecasts accordingly.
  • Fast learner who can hit the ground running, and generate revenue from the get-go.
  • Experience in selling into restaurants and entertainment businesses.
  • Can execute under pressure in start-up environment.
  • Competent in Salesforce & Google Drive.
  • Assertive, persistent, closer attitude.

Operations
Operations Manager (New York, NY)
About The Position
You’ll be responsible for making pulsd run - and if it isn’t running, to fix the problem.

While this is a demanding task for anyone, the ideal candidate will be a recent graduate (1-3 years of experience) who is willing to learn. This is a terrific opportunity to play a part in a real start-up - something that has been built systematically from the ground up by hard work.
  • Customer Facing - making sure our customers are happy with us. This is more than just customer support - this is about answering inbound emails and then giving feedback to the team on how we can improve our offerings, product and practices. (approx time 30%).
  • Sales Development - strategizing with the CEO and sales team on what experiences to go after. Where can we find the next best experience for our customers? This will involve some legacy sales development, as well as evaluating new markets to go into and partners to work with. (approx time 30%).
  • Core Operations - interpreting sales and editorial metrics. Giving feedback to teams about what is working and what is not. Daily sales reporting. Evaluating what is performing and why. (approx time 30%).
  • Administrative - We all do it, so if you don’t like sharing the burden of ordering Fresh Direct or changing lightbulbs every now and then, this probably isn’t the best culture fit. (approx time 10%).

About You
This position is for someone who can shoulder responsibility and execute.The profile we are looking for is:
  • Recent graduate (1-3 years of expereince) with a degree from a top university.
  • Strong business background with experience making strategic decisions.
  • High energy with a high EQ, as well as a high IQ.
  • Creative thinker who is resourceful and flexible.
  • Ability to handle many mission critical requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize many mission critical requirements.
  • Great temperament and open to constructive feedback.
