Business Development
Account Executive (New York, NY)
About pulsd
For the past several years, pulsd has been unlocking the magic of New York City. We have completely reimagined how 300,000 New Yorkers discover and experience the most memorable moments of their lives. And we empower incredible local merchants and artisans.

Our team of entrepreneurial, enthusiastic and client focused members is small but mighty. We have never raised any capital, have been profitable since inception and were growing revenues aggressively….. until the pandemic struck into the core of the business.

As we continue our recovery, we are looking for an Account Executive to join the team. Account Executives are expected to convert qualified leads that will be generated for them, in addition to prospecting on their own. If you love the city and all it has to offer, this is the ideal position for you - you are paid to explore the city; eat out, drink out, work out, enjoy spas, attend great events and so much more.

We are built by New Yorkers for New Yorkers. Our office is located in the Prince Building, in the heart of SoHo, with sweeping views of City Hall, The World Trade Center and other New York City landmarks. Current partners include hundreds of local businesses, all the way up to mega brands such as Tao Group, Union Square Hospitality, Peloton, Skin Spa, The Bowery Hotel and many more.

We were recently praised by the New York Times for continuing to operate 24/7 through the pandemic to help support local businesses while other corporate partners abandoned them: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/10/realestate/coronavirus-staying-in-new-york.html

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a long term view who sees opportunity in the correction New York City is experiencing right now and who agrees with Jerry Seinfeld’s opinion on Manhattan being the greatest place on earth:

When I got my first apartment in Manhattan in the hot summer of 1976, there was no pooper-scooper law, and the streets were covered in dog crap. I signed the rental agreement, walked outside, and my car had been towed. I still thought, "This is the greatest place I’ve ever been in my life." - Jerry Seinfeld

Requirements

  • Drive opportunities through a high volume of outbound calling and emailing.
  • In person meetings with local businesses to build relationships and close accounts.
  • Evaluate merchants that will resonate well with the core pulsd demographic.

Desirable
  • Experience in a fast paced, sales environment.
  • Consistent record of hitting monthly and quarterly quota.
  • Fast learner who can hit the ground running, and generate revenue from the get-go.
  • Experience selling into restaurants, SMBs, and entertainment businesses.
  • Can execute under pressure in a start-up environment.
  • Competent in Salesforce, Asana & Google Drive..
  • Assertive, persistent, closer attitude.

Qualifications
  • Graduate with a bachelor’s degree from a leading university or liberal arts college.
  • Outgoing, self-starter who can shoulder responsibility in a highly demanding, fast paced environment.
  • Have a basic understanding of New York City’s hospitality and entertainment industries - and a desire to bring the best of New York City to New Yorkers.
  • Hungry to cultivate and develop new relationships with businesses that will benefit our members.
  • Have excellent communication skills, and be detail-oriented, with an unquenchable thirst to grow the pulsd brand.
  • Comfortable closing new business on the phone and in person, in order to achieve monthly revenue goals.
  • Uses rejection to drive harder towards success.

Benefits
  • Competitive compensation consisting of base, but highly skewed towards performance based commissions and bonuses.
