Enter Don Ceviche, and be prepared "to fulfill all your Peruvian needs" according to The Infatuation. A New York Times pick whose chef hails from Lima, Don Ceviche is the real deal, putting the spotlight on Peruvian food comprised of incredibly fresh ingredients and an adoration for the culinary traditions of this rich culture.

After working in his grandmother's beloved local restaurant in Lima, Peru, Chef & Owner Lenin Costa came to New York City, ready to take on the restaurant industry with full force. From a dishwasher to a top server and manager at some of the finest French and Latin restaurants, Don Ceviche was born as a weekend passion project in 2017.

Its first hub was (and still is) a bustling stall in Essex Market, the success of that humble beginning blossoming to the now adored brick & mortar location on the Lower East Side. Lenin still visits Peru every year and loves learning about the latest culinary innovations, infusing his grandmothers lessons & recipes with his flair for the creative.

The famed ceviche is a great start, namely the Terminal Pesquero (fish, shrimp, octopus, calamari, red onions, sweet potato, soft corn, crispy roasted corn), best paired with a few glasses of crisp white wine or the scrumptious sangria, made fresh every day.

Moving on to mains, standouts include the Camaron Saltado, a shrimp stir-fry served with tomatoes, onions, French fries, and rice, and the Combo Lima, aka half chicken with French fries and a bright, refreshing avocado salad. Some Peruvian fried donuts - aka Picarones - are ideal come time for dessert.

Trust us - one visit and you'll be obsessed...

All selections will be made from the restaurant's full dinner menu.

  • "Food was delicious! Had the ceviche and chupe de camarones and both were excellent. Great ambiance with a taste of Peru. I was invited to go with my friend who was born and raised in Peru. By her telling me it was good, I knew it had to be the real deal. And it is! I've gone to this location several times by now, and each time it is better than the last."

  • "The food was very good (the ceviche, roast chicken, Madurai's, avocado salad). The sangria was very tasty as well. Nice portions and presentation. Service was excellent. The ambiance is good for dates."

  • "Don Ceviche East village is hands down one of the best restaurants!"
