Details

Revered by The New York Times & Eater, Kaikagetsu hails from the beautiful Hida region of Japan, and offers New York City's most enthralling Kaiseki: an art form of dining that balances the taste, texture, appearance, and colors of food in evocation of the seasons, flora, and fauna.

Experience this centuries-old Japanese ritual with this $119 pulse (a $200 value) for a 5 Course Kaiseki Dinner and a Carafe of Sparkling Sake for Two, where you and a mate will be treated to 5 courses of brilliantly imaginative, elegantly rendered dishes prepared by Hida-born masters of Kaiseki, further elevated by the sake.

The ever-changing dishes reflect the evanescence of time and beauty, like the Canadian King Salmon Temari Sushi shaped into an autumn persimmon with kelp "leaves."

On the other hand, the Hida Hoba Tsutsumi Yaki is a perennial house signature, featuring organic meat and vegetables nestled on a miso-glazed magnolia leaf and fire-roasted at the table.

Inspired by historic Hida interiors, the serene, wood-accented decor completes this unforgettable rite of cuisine and culture...

Helmed by restaurateur Yasuo Shigeta and creative director Tomoyuki Iwanami, Kaikagetsu is a captivating haute Japanese newcomer founded on the Kaiseki principle of honoring nature through cuisine.

Your 5 Kai Course dinner is designed to engage all your senses through fresh, seasonal ingredients. From the delicate appetizers to the Soy Milk Udon topped with mushrooms and a shot of chili oil, you will be taken on a journey that goes from light to hearty, fresh to umami - all plated and garnished with fruits, herbs and flowers.

No less attention has been paid to your surroundings; the chōchin lantern is lit to announce dinner service every evening, and new fresh flowers are chosen weekly to represent the season.

Sommelier-selected sakes are poured into patterned Edo Kiriko glasses produced using the same method since the 19th century.

Transcendent cuisine, luscious libations and gracious ambiance; this transportive evening is the ultimate way to experience Japan in the heart of New York City.
