Baazi is famous for its decadent, luscious dishes that pay homage to the prodigious cuisine of the Awadh region in India. Meaning "Playful" in Urdu, Baazi on the Upper West Side is acclaimed by The New Yorker and praised by Zagat for its ability to achieve “contemporary showcases" of "high-end Awadh cuisine, innovatively prepared with complex flavors."

Grab your $49 pulse (a $112 value) for a 3 Course Dinner for Two that includes 1 Rice Dish, 2 Entrees, 1 Dessert, and 1 Bottle of Red, White or Rosé Wine.

In the kitchen is Executive Chef Gaurav Anand (Moti Mahal, Bhatti Indian Grill), whose modern approach to "dum pukht" - a slow-cooking Northern Indian tradition - has garnered him recognition from The James Beard Foundation.

There's no doubt that Baazi on the Upper West Side is a "gem," as described by Zagat - boasting applause from Eater, Time Out, and The Infatuation, "Baazi brings authentic Northern Indian cuisine to Manhattan," according to the critics at Thrillist.

When Chef/Owner Gaurav Anand first visited the Awadh region, the historical legacy & vibrancy of its cuisine changed the course of his life. He learned “dum pukht,” the artful, 200 year old technique that involves cooking in a sealed, heavy bottomed pot or “handi” over a very low flame, which allows meats to cook in their own juices.

The attention to detail and use of a handful of uncommon spices is what earned Baazi its reputation. A spread includes elaborately prepared platings unique to the region, presenting a culmination of finesse representing India’s sacred fare.

From the Roast Trout Rechado (local rainbow trout, rechaedo, charred lemon) and the rich Chicken Sirka Pyaz (tandoori chicken thighs, tomato gravy, pickled baby onions), to Prawn Kuzhambu (shrimp curry) and everything in between, each creation is as delicious as it is beautifully fragrant.

With a bottle of vino and a dessert to add to this epic feast, unearth an experience that will leave a lasting impression...
