At the center of it all is Chef Abby Hitchcock, a Long Island native with a resume that reads like a who’s who of the culinary world. With a Michelin-starred pedigree, a Certified Sommelier title, and TV credits on Food Network, Abby brings serious talent and star power to every plate.
Her culinary journey began abroad while studying in England. After returning to New York to attend Peter Kump’s New York Cooking School (now the Institute of Culinary Education), she trained under icons like Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Martha Stewart, worked at Takashimaya’s The Tea Box, and contributed to the BBC’s Vegetarian Good Food Magazine.
In 2022, Hitchcock brought her celebrated West Village concept, Abigail’s Kitchen, to the Lower East Side, where it now lives just downstairs from Betty. Partnering with Daniel Wise, the duo created Betty as a modern counterpart. With General Manager Shanny Wise infusing her downtown creative energy into the space, Betty is a an inviting jewel where neighborhood regulars and culinary insiders converge.
Her experience is vast, but her food is deeply personal, flavorful, refined, and grounded in the farm-to-table ethos. Abby hand-selects ingredients daily from local farmers markets, ensuring each dish reflects the freshest seasonal bounty.
