Sicilian-born Chef Taormina - of Waverly Inn, The Bowery Hotel & Pastis fame - looks to Roman influences and his rich heritage for inspiration, installing a new taste of Italy into the historic East Village neighborhood through inventive (and Instagram-worthy) twists.
Bubbling amidst the flames of the built-in wood-fired oven will be plates of the spicy soppressata, chili pepper, and hot honey-laden DIA Pizza. The classic Margherita Pizza will always be a crowd-pleaser, while The Pancetta Pizza (mozzarella, pancetta, runny egg) pays homage to the Roman specialty of creamy la Carbonara.
Leave room for an exquisite dessert, namely the Chocolate Hazelnut Tiramisu and its layers of chocolate milk soaked lady fingers, hazelnut cream, crushed hazelnuts, and a dust of cocoa powder.

Founded by esteemed restaurateur Christopher Manta and Chef Andrea Taormina, DIA specializes in whipping up gorgeous plates of thin crust Roman style pizza, wood-fired in their massive in-house pizza oven.
Formally trained as a visual artist as well as a sommelier, Chef Taormina envisioned his restaurant to boast a modern setting with a touch of historic charm. Raw wood panels, plush red banquettes and contemporary art set the stage for such a transformative meal.
For truffle fans, the Speck Pizza’s ensemble of mozzarella, taleggio, speck, arugula, and roasted tomato are drizzled in truffle honey to get your gourmet heart racing. Alternatively, the Mushroom Pizza sparks intrigue thanks to a heavenly combination of mozzarella, taleggio, shiitake & cremini mushrooms, and oregano.
Finish things off on a high note with the velvety Cheesecake doused in a fresh berry compote, or a decadent helping of Chocolate Pot De Creme and a dollop of whipped cream.
