A New York magazine "Critic's Pick," Hecho en Dumbo has been winning massive acclaim since opening in 2010. The venue boats a devoted following that most other restaurants can only dream about, thanks to its revelatory modern Mexican cuisine by wunderkind Executive Chef Danny Mena.
Experience the magic of Hecho en Dumbo for yourself with this $69 pulse (a $106 value) for an exceptional 4 course dinner for two. Your dinner includes 1 guacamole, 1 para empezar, 2 antojito or taco dishes, 1 dessert, and 2 cocktails to share.
At Hecho, Chef Mena blends the cosmopolitan sensibility of Mexico City and the locavore ethos of NYC to create sensationally flavorful dishes. Think of Huarache de Pollo (Corn tortilla “shoes” of black bean purée, free range chicken, crema fresca, panela cheese, avocado salsa) and similar delights.
The result of all that labor of love is what The New York Times calls, "food worth standing and shouting for."
We agree whole-heartedly...
Praised by Vanity Fair, LA Times, Rolling Stone, and scores more, Danny Mena is one of NYC's most lauded chefs.
Having spent years at Blue Hill and The Modern (2 Michelin stars), Chef Mena debuted Hecho en Dumbo as a pop-up restaurant in Dumbo, which became an overnight success thus leading to its permanent, current location on The Bowery.
The secret to Hecho's success lies in it's attention to detail and commitment to authenticity; exemplified by the kitchen freshly making corn and flour tortillas in house and sourcing the best free-range and organic meats.
Start with a fresh Guacamole, that is made to order. Then, move onto the Pulpo a la Plancha *Roasted octopus, marinated tomatoes, chile serrano, avocado puree). For the main, the Tacos de Costilla (grilled steak short rib, chopped onion & cilantro) is an example of pure Mexican cuisine at its best - and a favorite!
The cocktails here are just as inspired as the food. The Margarita de Tamarindo (Tequila Herradura, tamarind, cane sugar, spicy chile piquin rim) or the Esmeralda (Bombay gin, mezcal, cucumber, basil, lime) make the perfect pairings to this thrilling feast.
Time Out New York hits the nail on the head with their review: "New York’s Mexican options were once pretty bleak. But Hecho en Dumbo brought new life to the genre, with serious cooking and a rollicking atmosphere!"
All selections will be made from the restaurant's full dinner menu.
