Experience the sensory wonders of the world of whisky at The Third Annual Water Of Life, an evening of drinking, eating and education from 5:30pm until 10:30pm on Thursday May 18, 2017.
Grab your $119 Standard Admission Ticket (a $275 Value) to this unique whisky "speed dating" night, where you can further your love of all things dark & mysterious as you help raise funds for the GIST Cancer Awareness Foundation.
With over 100 participating distilleries, this tasting event offers a true window into the world of whisky - with the unique twist that during the evening you will sit down with 10-12 distilleries.
At each distillery, a brand expert will talk (and drink) you through 2 expressions so you can really get to learn about the different types if whiskies. By the end of the evening, you'll know what whisky is best suited for your palate.
With a full gourmet dinner buffet rounding off your evening, this event really does have it all!
The word whisky (or whiskey) comes from the Gaelic uisce/uisge, a shortened version of uisge beatha meaning "water of life," also known as aqua vitae in Latin. Whisky was originally used as a medicine for both internal anesthetic use and as an external antibiotic.
The Water of Life event is an annual whisky fundraiser hosted by Dr. Matthew J Lurin MD MBA FACEP CPE (co-founder of the Whisky Nerds). Dr. Lurin is a whisky aficionado, whose goal was to create an event where attendees would actually gain a deep knowledge of the whiskies that they were drinking.
Your evening will being at 5:30pm with a cocktail hour. Then, at 6:45pm your first speed date will start; you will sit down with your first distiller who will educate you on 2 expressions - as you drink away! During the speed dates, you will have 30 minutes to enjoy a gourmet dinner, as well as 15 minutes for dessert. You may view the Dinner/Dessert Menu here.
