Just steps from Bryant Park, The Shakespeare is "cozy, like an upscale pub in a small English town," according to the critics at The Infatuation. You'll settle in for a night of fare-fueled revelry and comfort in abundance, which is why the spot is a favorite amongst in-the-know New Yorkers.

You can thank the Yves Jadot Restaurant Group, whose other hotspots include Raines Law Room, Dear Irving, The Bennett, and FARMTOBURGER. At 18, Founder Yves Jadot departed his hometown Brussels in 1986, launching his journey in the US. His ambition led him to establish his own eatery, Petite Abeille. Now, the group boast 11 thriving establishments, with The Shakespeare being a jewel in that bedazzled crown!

Murray Hill made a transatlantic leap with the launch of this British-inspired eatery crafted by Chef Jason Hicks of Jones Wood Foundry and The Raines Law Room fame. The jewel presents a refined selection of traditional British dishes infused with American influences, alongside timeless cocktails, all while conjuring the ambiance of an early 19th-century English country club.

Crunch into the classic Fish & Chips that combine freshly-caught pollock with an ensemble of homemade tartar sauce & malt vinegar. The Cheeseburger is also a treat, stacked high with pickles, onions, mayo, and a side of fries. Another standout is the Summer Squash Pastilla, which stuffs phyllo dough with barley, seasonal veggies, & warm spices.

The wine will flow as you refill your glass, or maybe cocktails are calling your name. Either way, to go, or not to go...there is no question!

All selections will be made from the restaurant's full dinner menu.

  • "I was met by a friendly bartender and a cozy room. The beer menu has lots of authentic British beers and some fun craft ones as well. The food menu offers the classics and I ordered the Fish and Chips. Food was delicious, almost artisanal in presentation. Fries are real potatoes and came with a bright tartar sauce, a bottle of malt vinegar and one of HP (classic). All in I would say this is my new pub, and it should be yours. See you there."

  • "Hidden gen. Would definitely come back here! Was strolling to find place for dinner. And found this! Waiters were nice. And food was nice."
