For the first time ever, The Jazz Age Lawn Party is trading summer sunshine for crisp autumn air. On Saturday November 7 or Sunday November 8, 2026 starting at 11:00am, The New York Times-celebrated favorite returns to Governors Island for a very special Autumn Edition. Think Gatsby-era glamour against dreamy fall foliage, dancing beneath the red & gold leafed trees, a warming cocktail in hand, and the Manhattan skyline shimmering beyond the lawn!

For 21 years, this extraordinary gathering has transported New Yorkers straight back to the Roaring Twenties, and this first-ever fall installment gives the experience an entirely new kind of magic. Layer up in your finest vintage threads, hop on the ferry, and get ready for six hours of hot jazz, autumn revelry and old-school New York romance.
The soundtrack comes courtesy of Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra, serving up the sizzling hot jazz of the 1920s, alongside the soulful vintage vocals of Risa Branch and spirited performances from Roddy Caravella & The Canarsie Wobblers. Hit the sprawling dance floor beneath the trees for 1920s dance lessons and contests (the Charleston on Saturday and the Peabody on Sunday) and twirl your way through the afternoon as the leaves fall around you.
And there’s plenty happening beyond the dance floor. Browse vintage clothing vendors, pose at the Paper Moon photo booth, or sit for a timeless portrait at the Penumbra Foundation Tintype Photo Booth. Challenge your crew to Croquet or Pétanque, browse goodies & sundries at the Dreamland General Store, and explore the Gourmet Picnic Market filled with gourmet eats. Sunday brings the old-fashioned High Court of Pie Baking Contest, while families can head to Kidland for carnival games, crafts and activities, with the Children’s Parade taking place on Sunday.
Then there are the drinks. Alongside vintage cocktails from the Social Hour bar and French wines at the Taste France Wine Bar, this special fall edition will lean into the season with warming autumnal pours including Hot Butterscotch Rum and Warm Cider. So find a patch of lawn, spread out your picnic blanket and toast to November in true Jazz Age fashion.

For the first time in its two-decade history, New York’s beloved Jazz Age Lawn Party is slipping into something a little more autumnal. This November, the glamorous Governors Island tradition returns for a first-ever fall edition, bringing all the music, dancing, vintage fashion and Roaring Twenties revelry of summer, now set against crisp harbor air, golden foliage and leaves scattering across the lawn.
It’s an event with serious New York pedigree. What began in 2005 as a small gathering of friends nostalgic for the charms of another era has grown into an international destination and one of the longest-running celebrations of its kind. The New Yorker has chronicled its “flotilla of flappers,” pearls, bow ties and Charleston-dancing crowds, while The Peninsula New York has recommended the festivities as one of the city’s quintessential arts-and-culture experiences.
At the center of it all is Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra, hailed as the world’s premier Jazz Age dance orchestra, with Arenella himself serving as conductor, composer, musician and crooner. This fall, they’ll fill Governors Island with live jazz alongside Risa Branch and Roddy Caravella & The Canarsie Wobblers, as revelers dance dressed for the occasion in wool coats over fringe, feathered headpieces, vintage hats, pearls and polished shoes, all set against a dreamy landscape of red, amber and gold.
Between dances, there’s an entire miniature 1920s world to explore, from posing beneath the Paper Moon for a portrait printed on the spot and sitting for a timeless tintype with the Penumbra Foundation, to browsing vintage clothing, and challenging friends to Croquet and Pétanque. When it’s time to refuel, there's the Gourmet Picnic Market, food trucks, and vintage-inspired sips. Plus, there’s an extra-cozy seasonal touch too via Hot Butterscotch Rum and Warm Cider, perfect for sipping beneath the autumn trees.
Even getting there feels like part of the escape. The ferry carries you across New York Harbor with views of Manhattan and Lady Liberty before Governors Island opens up into lawns shaded by century-old trees and framed by historic architecture. For one extraordinary fall weekend, the clock seems to roll backward. The jazz is playing, glasses are clinking, leaves are tumbling onto the dance floor and New York is partying like it’s 1929...
