Owner Yang Gao, an NYU Steinhardt alum, first opened Astoria Bier & Cheese in Astoria, Queens, a boutique wine, beer and cheese shop. The success of that buzzing outpost led to the unveiling of Milk & Hops, which has earned equal adoration from locals and visitors alike.
