The name is derived from a Dominican coconut and honey candy, which seems appropriate given the wow-inducing vibe. Inside, take a seat and marvel at the decor work of designer Julio Ortuño - think handcrafted Dominican furniture, walls adorned with brightly colored murals and authentic Carnival masks, colorful trees that nod to the whimsical, and each tabletop painted with scenes from the island.
Your feast is the result of a dynamic collaboration between Chef Noemi Guzman, who leads the Jalao team overseas, and Food Network-acclaimed Chef Wilmer Chuquillanqui (Republica, Agenda Astoria), who heads the New York City outpost.
