Perched along the Hudson River, City Vineyard on Pier 26 is a slice of wine country right here in Manhattan. With sweeping waterfront views stretching toward New Jersey and golden sunsets that wash the skyline in breathtaking hues, the space feels quintessentially New York. Living grapevines wind through the design, softening the industrial lines of the pier and creating a lush, viticultural oasis above the water.
City Vineyard is part of the larger City Winery vision, the brainchild of Michael Dorf, founder of the iconic The Knitting Factory, one of New York’s longest-running music venues. Dorf set out to create a space that seamlessly blended his two great passions, wine and music. After crafting his first barrel of wine in California with his brother Josh and acclaimed winemaker David Tate (formerly of Ridge Winery and now at Barnett Vineyards), Dorf caught the winemaking bug. That formative experience sparked the concept for City Winery.
At City Vineyard, grapes sourced from some of the finest vineyards across the country are brought to New York and vinified on-site, making it possible to sip small-batch wines crafted locally. The vibe marries warmth with modern comfort by way of floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the river. And in the cooler months, cuddle up in waterfront igloos that dot the terrace.
At the culinary helm, Executive Chef Julietta Sebastiani brings a fresh, ingredient-driven approach that celebrates local purveyors and seasonal produce, pairing seamlessly with your sips. Alongside her, Sommelier Rowan Suhre curates a dynamic beverage program that highlights the nuance and craftsmanship of City Winery’s portfolio.
