Some day, we will all fondly remember the days when the epicenter of literary culture was in Brooklyn, much like the Beat generation and Greenwich Village. Le sigh. For now though, head over to the Bell House for the Brooklyn Book Festival’s Kick-Off Party, co-sponsored by Electric Literature, Literary Hub, PEN America, Tumblr and Catapult. There will be free drinks (yes, free) and dancing with DJ Shiftee. Dress code is 'Brooklyn literary,' so go find your most adorably ill-fitting outfits and messy hair.
