Art historian Christina Weyl's new book, The Women of Atelier 17: Modernist Printmaking in Midcentury New York, focuses on the journey of 8 women artists who worked at the eponymous avant-garde printmaking workshop from 1940-1955. Atelier 17 became an uncommonly egalitarian laboratory for technique, style, and scale, especially ensuring women artists' engagement with modernism.
