World Sake Day returns, celebrating Japan’s national beverage with New Yorkers! Held every October, this festival honors the beginning of the sake brewing season in Japan and showcases Japanese culture, craftsmanship, and connection through sake.

World Sake Day was founded by Mika Furuya in 2021, with the inaugural event held at her venue, MIKA Bar in Bushwick, in collaboration with Shinobu Kato of Kato Sake Works. That first celebration featured 12 sakes from four companies, Kato Sake Works, Gosakeman, Kubota, and Skurnik Wines, and drew over 300 attendees. Since then, the event has grown significantly in both scale and impact, establishing itself as a key moment in the city’s cultural calendar.

Now in its fifth year, World Sake Day NYC showcases over an impressive lineup of sakes from breweries across Japan and the United States. The event brings together traditional craftsmanship and contemporary innovation, treating you to a rare opportunity to explore the diversity of sake in one place. Each year, new breweries and expressions are introduced, expanding the reach and appreciation of Japanese sake culture.

At its core, the mission of World Sake Day is to celebrate and promote Japanese craft sake by connecting guests directly with the brewers who make it. Through this connection, the event highlights the stories, people, and heritage that make sake unique. This year, the celebration will take place at the stunning W LOFT, an ideal backdrop for an evening of discovery and connection - especially considering the rooftop views!

In addition to all the sips, delish eats, and sights, you'll delight in a few unexpected surprises throughout the night. Come thirsty, leave feeling like you just got home from a Tokyo escape...
