The menu by Executive Chef Paolo Peralta (formerly of Gran Electrica) can be described as modern American bistro inspired by the bounties of land, sea, and garden.
Luxurious entree options include the Grilled Wagyu Filet (green olives, almond romesco) or the Poached Hake (sweet chili, hazelnuts, saffron).
Like the cuisine, the decor exudes organic-elegant vibes with a white marble bar, smoked mirrors, camel-leather banquettes and handmade oak tables. Add to that the delicious sommelier-selected wines, and you have a dining experience at the blissful intersection of the East Village and the Left Bank...
Nestled on a beautiful block in the East Village, Virginia's is the brainchild of restaurateur Reed Adelson (the former chef at Robert De Niro & Andrew Camellini's Locanda Verde).
The decor evokes a Le Marais bistro with barrel-vaulted ceilings, French doors and vintage fine dining menus framed on the walls (collected by Adelson's father). Even the name pays homage to Adelson's mother, lending an air of charming authenticity to this cozy hotspot.
That thoughtfulness extends to the kitchen, where everything is made in-house using the finest ingredients from across New York State. The PEI Mussels (sancerre, parsley, garlic aioli) or the Whipped Ricotta drizzled with raw honey and served with buttery brioche makes for a wonderful appetizer.
Then, move on to the Virginia's Burger (Cabot cheddar, vidalia onion marmalade) that many - including Thrillist - rightly call the best burger in town. Cheese Lovers will love the Ravioli (burrata, shallot).
Seasonal desserts including the Chocolate Ganache, served with a rich Cinnamon Ice Cream, sprinkled with crunchy chocolate bites make for a most delightful end to a special meal.
