Founded in 2005, Le Dû Wines has earned its place as one of New York City’s most respected wine destinations, with a reputation built on integrity, expertise, and passion. Nearly two decades on, the shop continues to reflect the philosophy on which it was created: that great wine should be both an art form and a shared, welcoming experience.
The story begins with the late Jean-Luc Le Dû, an esteemed sommelier whose celebrated career included leading the wine program at Restaurant Daniel, where he helped earn a prestigious Grand Award from Wine Spectator in 2002. His vision for a boutique retail shop was clear, to combine world-class knowledge with an atmosphere that felt approachable, thoughtful, and educational.
Tucked into the heart of the West Village, the shop welcomes you with shelves that read like a global tour of the wine world. From iconic Bordeaux châteaux and refined Burgundies to boundary-pushing Californian producers and pioneering natural winemakers from South Africa and South America, the selection is both expansive and carefully curated.
Equally distinctive is the shop’s deeply personal approach to service. The team (composed of sommeliers, educators, and passionate wine professionals) takes pride in curating tailored guidance for every guest.
