In 1907, John J. Kinahan made cycling history in Ireland by cinching the championship in 1-, 3-, 4-, 5-, and 10-mile events. By 1910, he was winning races in America and setting world records, including a 6-day, 2,340 mile race at Madison Square Garden - completed in 77 hours.
The spirit of this extraordinary sportsman lives on at the namesake J.J. Kinahan's, founded by his great-grandson Michael Gralton on the corner of 25th Street - just a stone's throw from The Garden.
Today at J.J. Kinahan's, you can expect Irish hospitality along with hearty, soul-nourishing fare reimagined with chef-chosen ingredients. The New York Strip Steak comes glazed in Chimichurri sauce with a side of French Fries; while the Reuben gets dressed up with house corned beef, whole mustard aioli, and house-fermented red & white sauerkraut on a pretzel bun.
