Welcome to Ernie O'Malley's in Kips Bay, a newly-minted treasure that honors the restaurant’s namesake, Ernie O'Malley, aka the Commandant General of the Irish Republican Army, who was a key figure in Ireland’s struggle for independence.
That same fierce, rebellious passion interweaves through every aspect of the space, from the museum-like decor to the hidden speakeasy in the back and the heavy-handed pours from the bartenders. They'll be filling up your glasses as you fill up on the lineup of tasty nosh.
O'Malley's is the work of Dublin native and restaurant co-owner Joe Byrne (Jack Diamond's, The Wild Goose), whose deep knowledge of Irish history and experience in the industry shine through in every detail. Byrne has also assembled an impressive selection of premium whiskies to complement the scene.
While he leads the vision for the history and sips, it’s seasoned restauranteur Clyde McKenzie who heads the kitchen, serving a menu that blends traditional Irish fare with beloved New York City staples.
