Cuddled up to the trendy Freehand Hotel in Gramercy, Comodo is an ultra-cool Latin American gem dubbed a "romantic haven" by The New York Times that brings bold flavors, irresistible energy, and a dash of downtown edge to your weekend brunch. Helmed by husband-and-wife duo Felipe Donnelly and Tamy Rofe, this stylish hotspot dishes up a more refined and adventurous take on Latin-inspired cuisine.
Bursting with spice and soul and repping an esteemed mezcal-forward cocktail program and a sommelier-curated wine list, Comodo is as much about the vibe as it is the flavor. It’s no wonder the restaurant has earned praise from The New York Times, Michelin Guide, Eater, and Time Out, each celebrating it as a must-try.
Inspired by his childhood travels and passion for cooking, Chef & Owner Felipe Donnelly left his advertising career in 2010 to start intimate supper clubs with his wife & Co-Owner, Tamy. These gatherings laid the foundation for their first restaurant, Comodo, in Soho in 2012, followed by Colonia Verde in Fort Greene - now a James Beard-nominated favorite.
Alongside their partner Mac Osborne, they expanded into catering with Comparti and launched Disco Tacos, a joyful, neon-colored food truck during the summer of 2020 that later evolved into a full-service Williamsburg restaurant. Most recently, they reopened Comodo at Freehand New York, continuing to share Felipe’s nostalgic cooking, curated mezcal programs, and global hospitality.
Originally from Mexico City, Tamy came to the U.S. for college before building a successful career in brand strategy. Her passion for food, hosting, and natural wines blossomed through the weekly supper clubs she co-hosted with Felipe. She became a certified sommelier and a driving force behind their ventures, bringing her expertise and warmth to the table & the glass.
Unforgettable food will be served in one of the city's most effortlessly hip dining rooms, so take a seat in the deep moss leather banquette by the windows streaming in natural light, or sit amidst the social buzz as soft pendant lights cast a glow on your brunch feast.
From Carnitas Tacos with coffee rubbed pork shoulder to Duck Confit Chilaquiles layered with corn chips, fried egg, tomatillo-chipotle salsa, crema, and cotija, each bite is wow-inducing, especially when paired with sips like the Esmerelda comprised of vodka lemon juice, peach purée, umeshu, blue curacao, and amaretto.
Here, conversation & laidback revelry are the vibe, while the next-level eats and sensational sips are the fuel - combined, you get weekend bliss...
