Husband & wife owners Noor and Luis’s journey began in the heart of Nolita, where they met while working at a quaint Italian café. Noor, whose passion for cuisine is rooted in her extensive experience, always knew she wanted to create a place where people could indulge in exceptional flavors and warm hospitality. This dream began to take shape when she and Luis shared their vision for something unique and personal.
Luis, a seasoned chef with over a decade of experience in the NYC culinary scene, brought his expertise and creativity to the table. Together, the couple crafted a menu inspired by their love for food and each other, which became the foundation of El Sabor Citrico de Mexico. After the arrival of their daughter, their dream expanded, and they ventured into entrepreneurship, blending their culinary talents and business savvy.
Now at the helm of Citrico, Noor upholds the core values of a family-owned and operated establishment. Since opening in 2014, the restaurant has been a reflection of her dedication to quality and passion for Mexican cuisine. Guests are invited to savor authentic flavors, embrace the jewel's warmth, and become a part of Citrico’s extended family.
Discover the outcome of such passion by way of plates like Milanesa de Pollo (chicken milanesa, mozzarella cheese, avocado, salsa guajillo) and Chile Relleno de Camarón y Pulpo, a behemoth poblano pepper stuffed with shrimp, octopus, tomatoes, avocado, onions, and green olives served over salsa roja.
With delectable drinks on deck to savor throughout the feast, what's not to adore?
All selections are made from the restaurant's full dinner menu.

"Incredible food. Huge variety! Freshness, quality and flavor. We had the Gorditas with huitlacoche, stuffed chicken, rice and beans and chips and guacamole - all were absolutely delicious. Highly recommended."
"The food is sooooo good! Some of the dishes are from Yucatan Peninsula like cochinita pibil. We ordered stuffed pepper (chili relleno) tortas and chicharon tacos. They are so good! The waiter was also super nice. We will 100% come back to this place!"
"I love this place and wish I had known about it sooner. Their guacamole is delicious, and I’m a fan of the menu. Colorful interior, friendly staff, and a great location near the Brooklyn Museum and botanic garden."
