Hidden away just steps from Barclays Center, The Infatuation-celebrated Charm Restaurant is both in its name and practice, effortlessly charming. The scene is buzzing with locals who adore the spot's luxe take on traditional Caribbean cuisine, crafted by a chef featured on the Food Network.
Such a treasure is the work of social luminary, event expert, and restauranteur McKinley Lamarre. His other locale, Minton's Playhouse, is iconic, so it's no wonder Charm has maintained the same legendary status in the neighborhood. Before a game or to impress a date, this jewel is unmatched.
Chef Christopher Callender began his creative journey studying Fashion Design & Marketing in Atlanta, Georgia, and took a job waiting tables at a Sicilian restaurant, where he unexpectedly found a new artistic outlet in food, wine, and hospitality. Under the mentorship of Chef Melissa Mueller and Tarek Daka, Callender rapidly advanced, becoming floor manager and head bartender within three months, an experience that shifted his passion from fashion to cuisine.
His career continued to evolve when Vogue-praised Chef Gaurav Anand (of Bhatti Indian Grill, Moti Mahal Delux, and Baazi fame) brought him on as General Manager of a modern Indian restaurant, eventually promoting him to Director of Operations for Anand’s catering company. This role expanded his expertise in mixology and global cuisine, allowing him to blend his fashion sensibilities with food presentation.
