The menu brings together deli favorites from across regions with verve and imagination, such as Quebecois smoked meat, Israeli falafels, and Tunisian smoked lamb sausage. Founded by Noah Bernamoff, who hails from Montreal, and his wife Rachel Cohen, a Brooklyn native, the original Mile End in Brooklyn was an instant success - so much so that the couple had to close the restaurant temporarily to add an off-site kitchen, to handle the crowds that lined up outside its door.
The husband and wife duo followed up on their Brooklyn success with their best-selling The Mile End Cookbook, and Mile End NoHo, a sleek aerie of a deli that blends seamlessly into the arty Bond Street.
Start your meal with noshes - playful takes on traditional dishes, including Sweet & Sour Meatballs (schmaltz toasted challah) and Pierogies (caramelized onion & chive sour cream).
The entree section showcases carefully sourced meats that are braised, roasted, smoked, and cured in-house, for the heady flavors that made Mile End an overnight success.
The Red-Wine Braised Brisket is made with pasture-raised Angus cows, taking it to the next level; meanwhile, vegetarians will be just as pleased with the outstanding falafel platter, brightened with spicy eggplant and coriander potatoes.
