Entrees lean savory (poached eggs with lobster, jalapeño biscuits and chorizo gravy), sweet (pan de dulce with salted caramel and caramelized bananas), and just outright intriguing (octopus avocado roll, chipotle aioli, with carrot slaw and spicy French Fries)!
The restaurant itself has a cozy yet sophisticated feel; offering the perfect spot for some relaxed winter dining.
From Chef Mario Hernandez (La Esquina) and mixologist Jorge Guzman (Ofrenda) comes Black Ant, a modern Mexican restaurant in the Bowery. The vibe is cheerfully cool, suitable for brunch with friends or a date in the beautiful enchanting back garden, kept covered and heated during the winter months.
Brunch at The Black Ant is rather different than your standard brunch. Chef Mario is always experimenting with inviting entrees, his latest creations include the Tostadas De Cangrejo (crab meat salpicon tostadas, chipotle aioli, avocado) and the Tacos De Pescado (crispy cod, cabbage, chipotle aioli, salsa verde).
If you'd like something more brunchy, you can't go wrong with the Huitlacoche (egg whites, huitlacoche, panela cheese, avocado, salsa verde, spicy french fries) or the Duck & Eggs (sunny side-up eggs, duck confit hash, Mexican chorizo, salsa verde, avocado).
For a sweeter selection, the Mexicao City Waffles (roasted pear syrup, cactus pineapple marmalade, Mexican vanilla ice cream, piloncillo bacon) would be our recommendation.
Finally, your pick from the Margaritas, Micheladas, or Specialty Brunch Cocktails. But seriously, go for the Margaritas. Enjoy a Traditional Margarita or the restaurant's renowned Smoky Jalapeño Margarita made with house infused tequila, orange liqueur, lime, agave and smoky salt!
