This year marks the 240th anniversary of the Battle of Brooklyn, and to commemorate this turning point in the war, historical landmarks around the borough are celebrating with various events. On Friday August 26, the Old Stone House in Gowanus will host a special opening night of the exhibit, "Witness to War," which focuses on family life in Brooklyn during the Revolution and Occupation. Yes, even back in those days, Brooklyn was where you went when you were ready for a family. You'll also get to taste colonial cocktails and snacks from wood-fired oven!
