Lincoln Center has seen countless performances of beloved composers, but has a special relationship with Mozart, whose Don Giovanni was the first performance ever by Metropolitan Opera's inaugural season in 1883. In honor of the composer, the Met and the Film Society of Lincoln Center are presenting a free screening of Amadeus, the film about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the relationship with his mentor-turned-rival Antonio Salieri. The 1984 film won eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for F. Murray Abraham’s portrayal of Salieri. The screening is free and on the Lincoln Center Plaza, beneath the summer stars.
