This cross-disciplinary, collaborative contemporary dance work was inspired by the radical world of the piers on the West Side of Manhattan in the 1970s and 80s. In the post-Stonewall era, before the advent of the AIDS crisis, the crumbling relics of the piers became a space of sexual freedom and artistic expression. Choreographer Matthew Westerby drew from historical and artistic photos and writings from the time to create a dance work that evokes the freedom, exuberance, anonymity, and dangers of the piers.
