Mark your calendars for this retro-chic swing dance party: join The Harlem Swing Dance Society to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the opening of the Savoy Ballroom, with live music by the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra!
The Savoy Ballroom opened in 1926 and was called the "World's Finest Ballroom." It is the birthplace of so many dance fads from the 20s onwards: the Flying Charleston, the Lindy Hop, the Stomp, the Big Apple, Jitterbug Jive, the Shimmy, and more. You'll learn these steps in a one-hour class, and then have fun in the open dance afterwards. So put on your T-strap shoes and some vintage-chic circle skirt, and get ready to lindy hop!
