Along with the discussion about women in finance and Hollywood (not to mention, um, the White House?!), another hot topic is women in publishing. The scarcity of literary fiction by women that is reviewed by reputable papers, and the eery lack of women editors at the top of the publishing pyramid, have been discussed much of the late. The new imprint, Emily Books (a part of indie powerhouse Coffee House Press), is addressing the issue in a symposium with women editors, writers, and agents, including National Book Foundation executive director Lisa Lucas. The panel (which is ticketed) will be followed by a party (free!).
