Traditional Thankgiving dishes are notoriously difficult to pair with wine. Not at Astor! We’ll cook a meal that is a sommelier’s dream. All it takes is a little forethought (and a light hand with the marshmallows).
- Thanksgiving For Wine Lovers Tickets
In this hands-on cooking class, students will not only get tips on cooking a juicy, delicious turkey, but advice on how to make a complex meal like Thanksgiving more wine-friendly. The menu is traditional, but with some minor tweaks to bring it into the twenty-first century. We’ll begin with a classic Maryland oyster stew with a hint of Riesling. Next we’ll prepare the golden roasted bird, along with a fig and sausage dressing, a cranberry port relish, a pinot noir gravy, and roasted vegetables.
An accompanying sweet potato cornbread would make Squanto proud. We’ll finish our feast with pies, naturally: and apple cranberry pie and a pumpkin pie with home-made bourbon marshmallow topping.
