After launching her career in the commercial world—on MTV’s Making the Band, in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ girl group Danity Kane, and in electropop duo Dirty Money—singer, songwriter, actress, and animator Dawn Richard began her career as an independent solo artist. Join her at the Brooklyn Academy of Music for a performance of songs off her sixth album Second Line which merges R&B, electronic and house music, Afrofuturism, and bounce. On the album’s opening track, King Creole (Intro), Richard brings her artistic alter ego to life by declaring: "I am the genre."
