"Drink sir, is a great provoker." So is the famed line from Macbeth, and the perfect way to sum up a night at Drunk Shakespeare! Named "The Best Thing to Ever Happen to The Theater" by Slate Magazine, this live show takes The Bard's work and adds in relevant references, taking audience participation, and a boozy flourish.
Time Out calls it a "live-action Drunk History," and so it begins as follows: with classically trained actors stepping forth to honor the great Shakespeare, performing his most cherished works. One brave soul amongst them raises the stakes, drinking whiskey with abandon - five shots, to be precise - whilst the rest of the cast endeavors to keep the show afloat!
The stage is set at The Ruby Theatre, a hidden Victorian drawing room with a splendid collection of paintings to take you back to Shakespearean times. This intimate setup will have you right in the middle of all the action!
