The Castro Theatre is excited to be partnering with the San Francisco Fire Dept’s annual toy drive on this day. A classic SF fire engine will be parked in front of the theatre from 1:30 PM to 4:30PM to solicit toys from passers-by or persons going to see the film. People who contribute a brand new unwrapped toy of at least $10 value will be given an instant reward with a discount coupon which will enable KIDS to attend the film for ONLY $5. Families are encouraged to bring cameras and have their kids’ pictures taken with the classic fire engine. All this culminates with the restored version of the hilarious 1964 retro-favorite Santa Claus Conquers the Martians -- In 'Space Blazing' Color!'

The San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program is the city’s largest and the Nation’s oldest program of its kind. Since 1949, it has evolved from firefighters repairing broken toys and bikes for 15 families to in 2007, firefighters and friends volunteering their time to distribute toys to more than 400,000 disadvantaged children.
