Applauded by Eater & The Infatuation, Orova is the debut restaurant from Mike Shehada, whose path to opening his own place is pure New York restaurant hustle. In 2015, Shehada walked into Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare as a back server. Over the next decade, he worked his way through one of the city’s most demanding dining rooms, ultimately becoming head captain of the intimate 44-seat restaurant.
For much of Shehada’s tenure, Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare held three Michelin stars and became renowned for its exacting service and notoriously hard-to-secure reservations. Spending ten years inside that world gave Shehada a front-row education in the details that separate a good restaurant from an exceptional one: instinctive hospitality, polished service, carefully considered food and drink, and the ability to make every guest feel looked after.
Orova is where he brings those lessons into a space of his own. Rather than recreating fine dining, Shehada has translated that experience into something warmer, more relaxed, and built for the neighborhood.
