Chef and Owner Giemay Manuel is at the helm, an Astoria native whose Institute of Culinary Education and time spent training at her parents’ beloved Filipino eateries, Kabayan in Woodside and Sunnyside, allows her to draw on her culinary background and involvement in the Filipino community in the neighborhood.
The brunch menu is stacked with drool-worthy dishes that combine classic weekend favorites with exquisite Filipino flavors and twists. The Fried Chicken and Waffles with crispy fried chicken, fried onions, waffles, and a side of rich gravy top the list, as does the B.E.C., aka toasted pan de sal stuffed with crispy bacon, scrambled egg, and melted cheese. Lest we forget, the Steaksilog (grilled skirt steak served with house-made chimichurri) is divine.

Astoria native Manuel honed her craft at New York’s Institute of Culinary Education, building on hands-on experience in a range of kitchens, including her family’s beloved Filipino restaurants in Woodside and Sunnyside. With a strong foundation in both classical training and the rich traditions of her community, she launched Barkada Social Club as an expression of culture, connection, and the spirit of togetherness.
Sink your teeth into the Barkada Burger stacked with house-made pan de sal, a juicy double patty, cheese, house sauce, lettuce, tomato, onions, fries, and the optional fried egg, wetting your whistle with never-ending pours of Mimosas, Bellinis, Sangrias, and Narragansetts. The Lechon Kawali is also a staple, boasting twice-cooked pork belly, deep-fried golden & served with spiced vinegar for dipping.
