Born in 1887, Tanner Smith was the founder and boss of the Marginals, an Irish gang that held the West side of Manhattan in its sway from Greenwich Village all the way up to Hell's Kitchen.
At times a ruthless mobster, a Prohibition kingpin, and a Robin Hood for the poor and needy, Tanner Smith inspired his contemporaries and modern-day mixologists alike, including Bernard McNamee - who went on to found the namesake bar.
For New Year's Eve 2019, Tanner Smith's will be transformed into a retro nightclub offering music, libations, and bygone glamour galore.
