On August 1, 1981, something happened to cable television - something that would define pop culture, change generations, and shape an industry. That something had a name. The name was MTV.
However, the MTV of the 80's was nothing like the MTV we see today. Did MTV of the 80's have "Jersey Shore?" Hell no. But it did have tons of music videos, awesome VJ's and music news unavailable anywhere else. On August 1, 2012, to thank them for making music videos a part of our lives, we're honoring them on their 31st birthday with an 80's Sing-Along!
