Van Der Plas Gallery
156 Orchard Street | (212) 227-8983
The Van Der Plas gallery has been a conduit for contemporary outsider and emerging artists for over 20 years. Founder Adriaan Van Der Plas was once himself an outsider, having left his hometown of Vienna, Austria in 1973 to immigrate to New York City. Adriaan has vigorously advocated for emerging artists – those who have not yet had the opportunities to share their art with the public. Adriaan has operated on the belief that outsider artists as well as academically trained artists deserve a showing platform in order to fuel the creative spirit of New York. Whether it be street art or contemporary art, the gallery strives to showcase not only local artists’ work, but art from all over the world – art originating in the innermost human creative spirit. Located in the heart of the Lower East Side, the gallery nurtures the untamed spirit of the area and provides the artists with a high-level venue to introduce their artistic creations.
