The Gaf
401 W 48th Street
The very definition of “neighborhood watering hole,” this traditional Irish pub offers local beers on tap, backgammon, PhotoHunt, Big Buck Hunter and one of the most serious darts scenes in the City—weekend nights often bring out darts champions from all over the area to practice and play. Darts leagues also compete here Monday and Tuesday nights. The most common question we're asked at The Gaf is, "What does the name mean?" Put simply, "Gaf" is Irish slang for "home." Its an appropriate name for one of the few bars in Midtown Manhattan that genuinely caters to its neighbors. While you may meet people from all walks of life at The Gaf, you will generally find they all have one thing in common. They are all good people. When you need a break from the chaos of the city, come to The Gaf and don't be surprised if you feel right at home.
