Professional boxing champion Alicia “The Empress” Napoleon leads aspiring champs into the ring at Overthrow Boxing Club. Named for a counterculture newspaper once published in the space it now occupies (at 9 Bleecker Street), the club provides a historic setting for vigorous workouts. Founding club member Joey Goodwin (also known as “The Soho Kid”) described the space as “boxing meets punk rock,” and the gym’s schedule reflects this fun-loving attitude.
