Since 1982, the Jim Henson Foundation has made over 850 grants for the development and presentation of new works of contemporary American puppet theater. Each year the number of applicants and the scope of their artistic vision continues to grow. We are proud to support the extraordinary work of so many fine artists. If you are interested in learning more about our granting program, visit our Grant Guidelines section. The Jim Henson Foundation was founded in 1982 by Muppets creator Jim Henson to promote and develop the art of puppetry in the United States. Each year the Foundation introduces thousands of adults and families to the magic of puppet theater through grant-making and public awareness efforts.
