We opened Ippodo Tea, New York, our first street-front store outside Japan, in April 2013. Although by no means a big store, we set our aims high, and are keen to help customers get the most out of Japanese green tea. In addition to selling high-quality Japanese green tea, we provide a take-out service as one way of demonstrating and communicating the variety of flavors that can be produced by varying the way the tea is prepared. Ippodo will post staff from Kyoto to New York expressly for the purpose of helping customers to discover and enjoy the allure and depth of character of Japanese green tea. Our aim is to create a venue where you can feel comfortable asking anything related to Japanese green tea, from casual questions to inquiries requiring specialist knowledge. And of course, there is the opportunity to taste the tea before buying.
