The design for Hudson River Park’s Pier 26 is inspired by the Manhattan shoreline that would have existed prior to Henry Hudson’s 1609 expedition. The pier includes a series of ecological communities representing this native landscape, including from a woodland forest to the rocky tidal zone and the Hudson River itself.
