East 34th Street Ferry
Our East 34th Street landing splits the two neighborhoods known as Murray Hill stretching to Madison Avenue and Kips Bay Stretching to Lexington Avenue
Murray Hill was named after Irish merchant Robert Murray who established himself in New York City in the 18th Century, whose house and farm stood on slightly elevated land on what is today Park Avenue and 36th Street
Kips Bay was named after the Dutch Settler Jacobus Hendrickson Kip, whose farm ran north of present-day 30th Street along the East River bay, which has since become reclaimed land. Kip’s farmhouse was the last standing farmhouse from the New Amsterdam era in Manhattan
