For close to 9 years, first in Brooklyn and then on the Lower East Side, CENTRAL BOOKING has been showcasing and encouraging experimentation in book art and the place where art meets science. Multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary projects and collaborations, broadening our community both locally and internationally, have also been at the heart of our mission. However, CENTRAL BOOKING is taking a new form in our evolution. As even more traditional galleries have discovered, once established, administration of a large permanent exhibition space is no longer vital to success, and without one it can be easier to thrive and explore new directions. Going forward, CENTRAL BOOKING will maintain a small private “library” space in Brooklyn to keep book art inventory and show the works we represent by appointment. We will focus on a stronger internet presence, including exhibitions and art sales online. We are in the process of revamping our website to accommodate this transformation and we are now on Artsy, please visit our page there: In this new phase, CENTRAL BOOKING will have more of the time and resources to produce exhibitions in short term locations as well as traveling exhibitions, represent our artists at selected fairs, and enter into a variety of collaborations. These include the upcoming presentation and participation in the first Malmö Artists’ Book Biennial in Sweden and a project with the Transitory Museum of Phyn and The Museum of Archaeology Frauenfeld in Switzerland.
