Born in Memphis as the daughter of legendary singer Rufus Thomas, Vaneese has cultivated her own singing style by blending all of the influences of her background: R & B, gospel, blues and jazz. She is an accomplished performer, producer, and songwriter and combines her knowledge of the birth of soul music with her tremendous talent to present a multimedia show that honors several women of soul. The program showcases some extraordinary artists such as Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Etta James and others and talks about their survival in sometimes hostile environments.
