Marina Abramovic has been called "the most famous living performance artist" by The Atlantic, and the superlative is well-deserved. Her 2010 MoMA exhibit, "The Artist is Present," was a blockbuster hit in which Abramovic sat still for a total of 750 hours as thousands of visitors gawked at the artist. As a New Yorker, you surely can imagine how unbearable it is to be staring at strangers in NYC, so what she did isn't just artistic, but heroic to the point of tears.
