It can be said that cuisine provides a spiritual experience for foodies who relish in new discoveries and exotic flavors. In Hinduism, “Surya”, meaning “sun” or “Sun God,” is central to healing and wellbeing.

When Executive Chef & Owner Abishek Sharma (Badshah, Swagat) inherited the restaurant from his father he upgraded the menu to a more modern Anglo-Indian cuisine and the venue's decor to be more aligned with the neighborhood's trendsetting denizens.

While much has changed in the area since 1998, one thing remains consistently the same. Surya brings a bit of sun to any dinner...

Surya - the restaurant rather than the deity - is giving a new, delicious meaning to the old adage that food is medicine.

On any given evening, Chef Sharma can be seen putting his culinary skills to work; learnings as a young prodigy under his father Chef Lala Sharma of Bukhara in New Delhi (San Pellegrino's Top 50 World Restaurants).

A constant stream of dishes ebb and flow from the kitchen as Chef Sharma whips up fan favorites including the Chicken Manglorian, Dalcha Macchi, and Tandoori Prawns, making it a family affair so rarely found within a city so full of hospitality group kingpins.

Of course, mama knows best, as Sharma continues to hone the principles of Indian cooking to this day with the help of his mother, Chennai. His refined skills take guests on an epicurean journey of sorts, with each item on the menu bringing modern energy to Anglo-Indian-fusion fare.

From The Tandoor the Lala Ji Lamb Chops are a meat eater's dream; but even vegetarian plates will have carnivores craving plant-based, soulful creations like Daal Surya and Roasted Bhartha. Cap your meal off with an authentic Indian dessert such as the Kheer (Indian rice pudding).

Toss in mixologist Ronnie Menezes’ concoctions like the Indian Rose (a tangy blend of Mandarin vodka, peach, cranberry and delicately garnished with rose petals), or the Beast From the Far East (tequila, red chili salt, and lime), to cool down your stimulated taste buds.

It's no wonder that The New York Times talks so highly about the “clear, hot spices [that] have a clean, almost crisp character rarely found in Indian restaurants in New York.”

A true mix of classic and modern Indian dining awaits...

All selections will be made from the restaurant's full dinner menu.

Your $49 Dinner For Two (a $122 Value) Includes:

  • 1 Starter (choice of Chaat or Small Bites up to a $10 value).
  • 2 Entrees (choice of Meat & Seafood, Tadoori Bites or Vegetarian Classics; up to a $24 value each).
